Dear Covington Families,
The Covington Board of Education is inviting you to help shape the future of our schools by sharing your voice in the search for our next superintendent.
Over the next few weeks, all members of our community will have several opportunities to offer feedback and ideas through a community survey, two in-person gatherings, and a series of focus groups. Your input will help define the leadership qualities, values, and priorities we seek in the next leader of Covington Independent Public Schools. This is a moment to dream big about what’s possible for Covington Independent Public Schools, and we want every voice to help shape the future of our district.
Ways to Get Involved
1. Take the Online Survey
The survey is open now through Monday, November 3, and available in multiple languages. We encourage all parents, students, staff, business leaders, and residents to share their thoughts on the skills and qualities that matter most in our next superintendent.
Take the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/C7YDXSG
2. Attend a Community Gathering
Alma Advisory Group — the firm assisting with the search — will host two in-person community gatherings that include a brief overview of the process, followed by small-group discussions where all voices are heard. Light refreshments and childcare will be provided.
Monday, October 27 | 6–8 p.m. at Latonia Elementary
Tuesday, October 28 | 6–8 p.m. at The Center for Great Neighborhoods
Registration is not required, but encouraged for planning purposes: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf82kfgZ26dowxbyoH8bT7yBWUIpVr8HB45fRQnmQC2PqP0kA/viewform
3. Participate in a Focus Group
In addition to the public gatherings, Alma will facilitate targeted focus groups — both in-person and virtual — with students, families, staff, business, and community partners. Invitations will be shared by email.
The Board’s goal is to post the superintendent position by the end of November, conduct interviews in early 2026, and name the next superintendent by April.
As the Board shared in a recent community statement, this leadership transition represents a pivotal opportunity to make Covington a destination district — for families, for teachers, and for the entire community.
Thank you for taking the time to lend your voice to this important process. Together, we can ensure that the next leader of Covington Independent Public Schools reflects the values, aspirations, and dreams of our community.
With appreciation,
Tom Haggard
Chair, Covington Board of Education
